Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (MSKUS)

Musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSKUS) has emerged over the last 15 years as a very important tool for the diagnosis of many rheumatic and orthopedic conditions. It also aids in the monitoring of disease progression in diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis.

We were the first rheumatology practice in South Florida to incorporate the use of MSKUS for the care of our patients.
Advanced Rheumatology of South Florida was the second rheumatology practice in the State of Florida to achieve the musculoskeletal ultrasound accreditation by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM). This recognition is achieved by meeting rigorous voluntary guidelines set by the diagnostic ultrasound profession. All facets of the practice were assessed, including training and qualifications of the physicians; documentation; storage and record keeping practices; policies and procedures to protect patients and staff; quality assurance methods; and thoroughness, technical quality and interpretation of the sonograms the practice performs.
